Thirteen players named first-team All-Heartland

Southern Columbia has earned nine Heartland Conference Division II first team all-star selections in voting by the division coaches, with Mount Carmel earning four spots and Shamokin Area three.

Two Mount Carmel players - Justin Pellowski and Ahmad Abuomar - earned first team nods on both offense and defense, as did Shamokin's Wes Tillett.

Earning first team spots for Southern, which will play Tri-Valley on Friday in the PIAA Class A state quarterfinals, were offensive linemen Ian Van Wieren, John Lamb and Brad Witcoskie; running back Jake Morton, quarterback Jake Townsend, tight end Corey Bittner, kicker B.J. Snyder, defensive lineman Tom Schetroma, and linebacker Ethan Snyder.

Abuomar was named as an offensive and defensive lineman, and Pellowski was named at running back and defensive back.

Tillett was named on the offensive and defensive lines for Shamokin. Shamokin's other first team pick was linebacker Brent Forbes.

Tyrell Thomas, Billy Shoop, and Jared Hallick were second team picks for Southern. Eddy Smerlick and Cody Shustack were second team picks for Mount Carmel, and Forbes and Tim Bousson were second team picks for Shamokin.

Loyalsock's Alex Jackson was named Coach of the Year.
